Holiday Shopping in Northeast Ohio this Holiday Season


The desire to shop small is not new.  For years there has been a day that it’s designed to bring awareness of the need to shop small.  People have flocked to the stores and paid attention to the small businesses on that day each year.  This year, it needs to be every day.

Small businesses make up most of the jobs in the US but are also the first ones to go when things get tough.  This whole year has been tough on all of us but the small businesspeople have borne the brunt of it.  They don’t have the purchasing reach of Amazon or the distribution system of Wal-Mart or the fancy inventory control processes of department stores but what they do have is little ones that need diapers, kids in college, a spouse who is laid off, or a mortgage payment that was due last week.

I hope you’ll join me in my quest to buy someone else’s diapers, pay someone else’s tuition, mortgage, or grocery bill.  Amazon, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and the department stores will be just fine if they don’t have the best Christmas ever and I’m going to feel better for being a good human being and putting the needs of others ahead of my own this year.  Shop small this year more than ever before.  Your neighbors need you.
